Foot Screening event (diabetes focused) in Orillia

BANAC- Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin is excited to share that we have partnered with Biminaawzogin Regional Aboriginal Women’s Circle (BRAWC) to offer this Diabetes foot care screening and education event being held on Friday September 11th , 2026 from 10:00am-4:00pm. This is an in-person opportunity for regional Indigenous community members who want to learn more about diabetes prevention, with a “healthy feet” focus through education, foot care screening clinic and self care sessions (reflexology). Arrive early to secure your spot!
Location: Sports Complex Rotary Place –
2nd Floor in the Tournament Room
At 100 University Ave, Orillia ON
Elevator access to the 2nd floor.
Time: 10:00am-4:00pm
What to expect:
- Foot Care assessments
- Chronic Kidney Disease Screening
- Free Lunch
- Learn to make a mini moccasin (in the AM)
- Foot Care BINGO = Nutritional prizes! (in the afternoon)
- Self Care – Reflexology appts
- Grab bags provided to attendees while quantities last
Over lunch, a presentation will be shared designed to help individuals who are living with type 2 diabetes make sustainable lifestyle changes, focusing on self-management strategies to prevent or reduce further complications of diabetes (Focus: Kidney, Eyes, Foot Care, Blood Glucose/A1C).
The lunch and learn will be suitable for both front-line workers supporting those living with diabetes as well as for community members who want to learn more about proactive care.
