Who We Are
Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin (Everyone Helps) is an Interdisciplinary Primary Care Team, providing wholistic care incorporating Indigenous concepts of health and well-being throughout North Simcoe and Muskoka Regions. MWIIPCT clinics are led by Nurse Practitioners (NP) alongside our Traditional Healers and allied health professionals. NPs are skilled primary care providers who can support the health of you and your family.
We currently have two clinics open, one in Barrie and another in Orillia, with support offered to the surrounding regional communities. Mamaway primary health services are offered at Beausoleil First Nation and Rama First Nation in partnership with those communities. Traditional healing services will supplement the health clinic at both Moose Deer Point First Nation and Wahta First Nation.
Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin is managed through the Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle, with advice and direction provided by the Indigenous Health Circle.
The Indigenous Health Circle, will ensure that services will develop and remain grounded in traditional and local practice, and change according to the evolving needs of our regional communities over time.
We know that family is highly valued in our Indigenous communities and
while our programs and services will enable care and support for individuals,
they will be built to foster and encourage family participation.
Our goal is expanding Primary Care Team Services to improve access for vulnerable populations across the Simcoe Muskoka Region.
We know there is an increase of Indigenous peoples and families moving into urban communities. Many of them do not have a physician, nurse practitioner or a primary care team to help them along their health journey. Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin acknowledges the Social and Cultural Determinants of Health and will strive to address the lived cultural, environmental, social, economic, political and spiritual needs that is essential to the individual, family and communities well-being.
